Ronnie's Report -- Vol. 2, No. 1
Welcome to the first edition of Ronnie’s Report for 2008. As your State Representative for District 24, I will be bringing you an update each week of the Legislative Session. I will hit the highlights of the Legislature and point out issues that may affect us in District 24.

Our first “Town Hall” Meeting of 2008 for District 24 will be at the Lucky Brewgrille , 5401 Johnson Drive in Mission on Saturday, February 2, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Please help me get the word out to our neighbors so that they can hear what is going on in Topeka . Complimentary coffee and pastries will be provided. I look forward to meeting with you and all our neighbors in District 24.

I am a co-sponsor of an Energy Forum that is being sponsored by a group of legislators in Northeast Johnson County . But, I just learned the Energy Forum has been postponed, due to cancellation of one of the speakers. It was to be held this Thursday evening January 24th at SM South Auditorium. We will keep you posted when it is rescheduled.

I will be speaking at the Johnson County Public Policy Committee’s Legislative Breakfast this Saturday morning, January 26th, at 7:30 at the Ritz Carlton. Call the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce for reservations. 913-491-3600

The legislature has convened for the New Year. The Governor delivered her annual State of the State address. It is always a big moment to gather in a joint session with members of the Senate, Supreme Court, other state-wide elected officials and the Governor’s Cabinet to begin our work for the good of all Kansans.

I now serve on the House Transportation Committee. As a result, I will no longer serve on Health and Human Services committee. I look forward to serving on Transportation, since this subject is of great importance to us in District 24. So far, my Commerce and Labor Committee and Election and Government Organization Committee have only met briefly, one time each. Things will get moving soon I am sure.

In next week’s edition, I will outline what I sense the key topics will be for this session. As well, be watching for my district-wide survey about your opinions regarding issues.

I have lived in District 24 for over 50 years, and I truly believe it is not what I think, but what you think that matters. I believe this is the essence of representation. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing from you. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to others you know in our District.
